I am going to have 3 cascading DropDownList on a page I'm working on. There will always be a set of 3 default values that need to be initially displayed. What is the recommended way of getting the defaults set?

In Q1 2012 (2012.1 214) release the cascading dropdownlists/comboboxes cannot show their values on intial load. Nevertheless this is fixed in the latest internal build. I will suggest you give it a try.

how can i acces this internal build? i use Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC Open Source.

The latest internal builds are available only for paid customers. The open-source users can download only the official releases of the Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC. I will not be able to provide with a code snippet which fixes the problem and you will need to wait for the next official release of Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC.

Is there any update on this? I have three cascading drop downs which will need to be pre-populated on occasion.

Check out the successor of Telerik MVC Extensions - Kendo UI for ASP.NET MVC - and deem it for new ASP.NET MVC development.
