Hi ..Ben,
Setting the CanUserClose property must result in hiding/showing the "X" button of the menu. Setting the CanUserPing property must result in hiding/showing the pin button.

That was exactly my understanding. I did it in Blend 3, I saw the XAML changed, ran the app, but nothing changed. Unfortunately, that was during an experiment and I don't have the code to send you!. But I thought I report it!

I'll try to re-produce it and if I could I'll send it t o you. FYI, it was done in SL3 and not SL2 and the project was created using a business template from RIA Services. However, after some experimentation, I changed it to using Tab Pages and toolbar which I removed those too and back to basic Menu system.
Sometime less is better than giving too much to the user ;-)
