I was able to use the former standalone Testflight service just fine with AppBuilder because it accepted uploaded IPAs.

However, after being bought out and integrated by Apple into iTunes Connect, I am not understanding how I would upload a build created by AppBuilder without owning a Mac and using Xcode (which I'm not doing and is the reason I chose AppBuilder).

iTunes Connect has a section for "Builds" but it merely says "Submit your builds using Xcode 5.1.1 or later, or Application Loader 3.0 or later."  I am unsure how to proceed.

You can upload to iTunes connect via AppBuilder's Publish to AppStore feature. It will let you enter your iTunes connect details in after the build and will upload it to where you need it. You can then either release it through TestFlight or submit it for review if you're happy with that build.

Downside if it will be a "Release" build - in case you're using the *.debug.*/*.release.* feature.

Hi Jeff,

Mark is absolutely correct. You can submit your app for review in iTunes Connect. I just wanted to add a link to our documentation where you will be able to find the steps you can follow to upload your app in iTunes Connect.

Thank you.  I see how to proceed.  However, just a comment for your team, it was not at all clear to me that the instructions for publishing "to the App Store" (described as being for "production-ready" apps, which mine is not) were relevant to getting a build into TestFlight.  This gives me more to work with, though.  Thanks again!

Hello Jeff,

I am happy to see the information helped. I also appreciate your feedback, we can absolutely see your point and we will update our documentation to describe how to prepare builds for Apple's TestFlight.

Hi,

I built the app using the "App Store" method above but I am having troubles uploading it to the App Store using the Application Loader from Xcode. It is getting stuck on "Verifying Assets with App Store". I have done all sorts of troubleshooting per various StackOverflow posts. We are trying to get our app uploaded so we can do Test Flight INTERNAL testing using our developer accounts, not EXTERNAL testing yet. Can you confirm that if I use the "Build Complete" screen following App Store build and use the "Sign to iTunes Connect:" prompt that I will not be releasing the app for review but will be able to do INTERNAL testing and not EXTERNAL  testing?

Thanks!

I believe that is correct, yes.  It will not automatically publish all the way to the app store, but will make the build available on iTunes Connect for internal or external testing (and potential promotion to the app store, but on iTunes Connect only)

Hi Giancarlo,

Just as Jeff has noted, the application package won't be automatically submitted for review. It will be uploaded to itunesconnect, where you will be able to configure it further and publish it for internal testing.
