Currently evaluating WebUI Test.

I have a web test containing a number of steps and now I wish to add more steps to it using "Record". Currently I am recreating the whole test each time I want to add/change something, which is tedious and error prone. Thats not how its supposed to be, right?

In other words: I want to run (or single-step) the test and have it stop at a certain step, and the let me record the rest as usual.

It's probably something I'm missing but It's not obvious to me anyway.

/Thanks!

Hello Martin,

Thanks for evaluating WebUI Test Studio. Just to verify, are you asking if WebUI can record and insert steps when playing back the test? If so, then unfortunately WebUI does not have that capability, but I'll log a feature request for it.

WebUI can can record and insert steps at a certain position using the recording window by:

Right Clicking on a test step -> Record Next Step... -> After Selected Step.

Sincerely,

Hello

Yes, I want to run the test automatically and then begin the recording for adding a couple of additional step (instead of having to record the whole thing again).

Here is what happens:

Lets say I want to add a single step last to my current test which contains 10 steps. I used "Record Next Step -> After Last Step" and then clicked on "Record". I am now greeted with the first web page and have to manually perform all 10 steps + the one new step which I am interested in adding. So I end up up with 21 steps (the original 10 steps + the 10 newly recorder + the new step) inserted last. I thus have to remove the 10 duplicates to end up with the 11 steps I want to use.

I am doing this wrong?

Hi again Martin,

Thanks for the answer to my question. As I mentioned, WebUI does not have that ability, but I'll log the feature request.

In order to avoid the duplicate steps you mentioned, you can still do the insert operation, but have the recording turned off until you are ready to record the new steps you want inserted.

You can then turn on the recording and just have the new steps inserted and running right after the orignal test steps in the sequence.

Hope that helps,
Nelson

Hello

No, not really since I still have to do the steps manually.

/Thanks
