How do I make a cell or cell ranges read-only ?

I want to show the user the cells values, but don't want them to be able to edit the data.

Thanks

Hello Ian,

You can use worksheet protection. Detailed information is available here: SpreadProcessing - Worksheet Protection.

Thanks  - I found this article, but it seems a bit heavy for what I need.

Is there an option to just lock a range of cells? Would I need to lock everything, using a password which I don't share with the user, then un-lock everything except the cells that I need to keep locked ?

Hi Ian

I am afraid there is no other way. To unlock specific ranges you can set the IsLocked property of the cells (true for all cells by default)

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks Dimitar,

 So is my approach correct?

1. Lock the sheet, but don't tell the user the password

2. ...which will lock everything

3. Unlock everything except the bits I want locked?

Hi Ian

I would switch 1 and 3 so the locking is the last step.
