How can I show dates instead of times when dragging appointment?

I am using the ScheduleView to show a project schedule in a timeline view. When I drag an item, it shows 12:00 in the upper left corner and 11:59 in the lower right (the start and stop times of the appointment. I'd like it to show the dates instead. I am hoping there is a template associated with that element that I can override.

Please check this forum thread where it's explained how to set the formatting strings while dragging/resizing appointments.
