Highlight Item Color Vs. Highlight Color with Children Items Color

I can not find, within generated templates or controlled by the button Chrome, the ability to change the color difference of a mouse over hightlight  for an Item which has children items, as opposed to not having children.  I'm using a bluish background during highlight state, and it appears a bit purple when there are no children under the item.
