After looking at this thread and downloading your sample application titled PreserveGridStateAjaxBinding, it is unclear what the GridRouteValues() is actually looking at to restore the previous session data. When I changed the name of the grid "Grid" to "Grid2" the application ceased to restore any values.

Is there any documentation on the GridRouteValues() to explain exactly what is happening when it is called?
