I need to have a grid.  It will have 3 columns, the first a Date, the second a number of hours, and the last HTML.

I hope to use the RadHTMLPlaceholder control, however I can't seem to get it to expand to fit the width automatically.  I want the grid and its contents to auto fill as needed (with appropriate mins) but can't get this one control to work.

I have tried messing with any and everythign I can think of, Width, Min/Max Width, Alignments, RespectSilverlightLayoutMeasure, etc.  I've tried messing with the grid and all its properties as well, and can't find anything that will help.

What is the best way to get this column to auto extend for the contents....

Thanks,

Hi Stephen Culver,

I'm not sure that I have understand you case correctly. Did you put RadGridView in RadHTMLPlaceHolder or you want to put RadHTMLPlaceHolder inside GridViewCell?
Also which width is not respected?
It will be best if you could send us sample project so that we can get better understanding of your scenario.

Greetings,

Sorry for any confusion...

I want to put HTMLPlaceholders INSIDE a grid.  Inside a templated column (since it is not obviously a default column type).

When I try this, I can't make the placeholder take up the width of the grid.  I can manually set a width and that works, but I want it to auto fill the remaining space (which I can get through other columns).

I would be happy to send a sample, but I honestly don't see any way to upload it to this forum (am I overlooking something).

Thanks,

Hi Stephen Culver,

You can open a support ticket an to attach the sample there. Thank you for the cooperation. In the meantime can you please check the HorisontalAlignement is set to Stretch of the RadHtmlPlaceholder?

Kind regards,

I have sent a simple example (it is under support ticket 244115).

I have tried the HorizontalAlignment on the placeholder. I have also tried working with the RespectSilverlightLayoutMeasure... the HorizontalAlignment on the grid itself... the HorizontalContentAlignment.... no matter what I have tried though I still have not found a way to get this to auto fill (I can manually set it to some value with the columns width, but then it will not auto adjust as the browser window changes)

Thanks,

Hello,

I am having a similar issue. Has any new information emerged on this? Is it in the released controls?

Thanks,

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

There should be no problems with this scenario. You can check the sample project I attached to this post. Please take a look at it and let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks for the response. Sorry, this was actually resolved: the HTML Place Holder was in a scrollable container, and that was overriding the height/width (I believe).

Hello Matthew,

I'm glad you were able to resolve the problem. You are right about the ScrollViewer - an element with no explicitly set size would not stretch within a ScrollViewer since it provides infinitely large space to its children.
