Anyone have a good tool they use for functional testing a website with AJAX controls on it?

Try SiteWalker from JStudio.  With it and a little Javascript you can make it work.

One can use Selenium tool for this purpose. There are many useful articles in the web about testing AJAX applications with Selenium. You can review this post for instance.

Use Selenium Rc with any java Ide and you are ready to go.
