Hi,

After enabling redraw regions I noticed that the the map control is excessively redrawing.  I set up a project with nothing but the map in it to ensure that it wasn't something that I was doing.  Even when nothing is happening on the map it is being invalidated multiple times a second.  I have a collegue that uses a fairly low powered laptop and IE uses a significant amount of her CPU when the map is visible.

Of course on my i7 I didn't notice it :)  Except when the visualizations are enabled; because that amount of flickering would cause seizures.

I would have expected that it would only invalidate if there were items on it that were actually changing.

Cheers,
Clint

Hi Clint,

Thank you for the feedback. That would be a major issue, but I am afraid we cannot reproduce it. Can you send to us your test project for detail research into the problem? Thanks.

All the best,

Hi,

I am trying to get a sample that repros the problem. I just updated to Internal build 1219 which may have improved the situation in a naked application with only a map in it.  It could be also that I didn't wait long enough for the map to stop refreshing as I noticed that it continues to flash even when there doesn't appear to be anything happening but if it is left for a number of seconds the flashing subsides.

Although this situation isn't true with my companys application.  I eliminated everywhere where there would be invalidate calls to ensure that map isn't be invalidated by the application.  It still stays flickering.  Perhaps I have to wait an exceptionally long time for some reason.

I will spend some more time trying to figure out what may be triggering the excessive redrawing.

Cheers,
Clint

It turns out that the problem was with a bug in DeepZoom.
