I know that back in Nov, 2011 the Chart. I was wondering if that had been changed and if not if there is any guidance for building a legend programatically.
I have also been assigning labels but I would like to format the label in such a way that it displays as
Data Point Title - 12%
rather than just 12% or having to place the title in another label which causes alignment to be a serious difficulty.

Hello Robert,
I just want to clarify a few things first.
You have created this thread with a Product RadChartView. Can you specify if your question refers to the RadChartView or the RadChart control.
In RadChartView there is no support for legend, meaning we do not offer a built-in legend. This results in full freedom to implement a legend for the chart view.
As for the RadChart - it offers a built-in legend, and it is possible to style it and customize it. Here is a link just to get you started.
If you need further assistance we will need confirmation about which control you are referring to.
Also it would greatly help us if you provided us with a few snapshots (or drawings of some sort) which demonstrate the results you are after, so that we will be able to point you in the right direction.
Kind regards,

Yes, it is ChartView. I have used the RadChart many times but really liked this control and thought I would give it a chance.
I'm just not certain how to build the legend. Is there any intention on putting a declaritive legend into the control?

Hi Robert,
As I mentioned before the RadChartView does not currently support built-in support for a chart legend. This feature is included in our development plans for the ChartView control, and it will be implemented. While I cannot commit to a definite timeframe, it will be available in one of the upcoming versions of the control.

Perfectly valid answer!
I was able to hack together a legend based on the code in the demos but it was not very easy. This looks like it will be a very good control once it's got all the features.

I want to add a legend to radchartview. Please help.
I am new to telerik chart controls. Please suggest which (radchart or radchartview) one to use.
Like legend is not available in radchartview, which other features are missing in it. And am I correct while choosing radchartview for our project. Or should I go in for RadChart. Please help.

Hi Bharti,
RadChartView is the control you are looking for. This link ( http://demos.telerik.com/silverlight/#ChartView/FirstLook ) will bring you directly to the demo of the control. Notice how there are legends on each type of chart. Click on the "Code" button up on the right of the window to see the code for that particular UI.
This example code came with your download of the controls. Go to your ProgramFiles(x86) > Telerik > RadControls for Silverlight > Demos Folder and you'll find a solution there. Open it in Visual Studio, locate the ChartView.Silverlight Project.
In that project is everything you need to get started. Along with the example code, use the documentation to guide you ( http://www.telerik.com/help/silverlight/radchartview-overview.html ). There is also a section on comparing which chart is right for you. If you need more help, provide me with your project and we can take it from there.
Good luck and welcome to RadControls for Silverlight!
