Hi,

While trying to open my project with newer version of telerik test studio, message saying upgrade to newer version pops-up. If I upgrade the project, it ends up generating a number of '.dbsrc' files which is undesirable at my end. If i try to exclude/delete these files, the databinding does not works since the step for the same gets associated to the '.dbsrc.' file creted with this particular column value.

Can somebody please provide a solution for overcoming this issue?

Regards,
Prerna

Hi Perna,

Thank you for contacting us.

Please go ahead and send us the test project from the back up folder so we can investigate this issue.

Meanwhile I will try to reproduce the problem on our end.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Prerna,

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce the project.

I have created a project in 911 and added a data base as a data source then I upgraded the project to 1210 and everything was correct.

Please send us your entire project including the backup folder so we can investigate this issue.

From which to which version did you upgrade the project?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Unfortunately I can not send in a project, but this has happened to me numerous times starting the in the 2013.1.### range of versions up through the 2013.2.### versions.

I'll see if I can make a project with no other data that causes it, but it is occurring.  Doesn't seem to hurt anything besides wanting to be added to source control.

Hi Team,

Unfortunaly, I cannot send my project due to policies. Also, I do not have an older version of test studio installed on my system and so I am not able to create any demo project in older version.
Can i get the setup for any of 2013.1.xxx versions? Or, may be, telerik team might give a try by creating project in telerik 2013.1.xxx version and opening it with 2013.2.xxx version.

Thanks & Regards,
Prerna

Hi Prerna,

I am trying to reproduce the issue as follows:

1. Create a project in 911 version.
2. Attache a data base as a data source.
3. Open the project in 1210 version.

Are these the correct steps?

I am not able to reproduce it.

A jing video or a screen shot will be helpful.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Boyan,

With "Attache a data base as a data source", do you mean Orcale or SQL database as data source?
I am using external excel file as data source for my project.

In the attached screenshots, Snapshot1 is the message which i get to upgrade the project. If a select 'OK', dbsrc files get created(as shown in Snapshot2). In Snapshot2, FC_TestData is the file which i am using as datasource and the dbsrc files are the files which get created everytime i upgrade my project. If i do not upgrade my project, i am not able to load the project.

Please look into it. Hoping a quick reply.

Hi Prerna,

Where are these folders generated? In which folder? Do they appear in the project view in Test Studio?
I am still not able to reproduce the issue.

Please send us your project (including the data source) so we can try to reproduce it with it.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi
Boyan,

For your information,

.dbsrc files created in Data folder of the project. If we open the project in
Test Studio they are not appear in project view, but yes they do appear in
project explorer when we open our project in Visual studio.

Suppose we are having 10 columns in our external excel file and all fields are
data bound with our scripts. When we open our script from visual studio, test
studio is asking for the project upgrade. If we click on yes, its creating 10
.dbsrc files in Data folder and all the data binding reference from the
previous excel file will be removed, i.e. excel file no longer is bound with
the current script and its creates a dummy bindings with those .dbsrc files,
which are of no use. If we run the script it fails.

Every time this going to happen, whenever we try to open our project. We are
having more than hundreds of scripts and those scripts are bound with the excel
files with hundred of distinct fields. For these dbsrc, every time we have to
remove the files from data folder and we have to start creating data binding
from scratch which is the only solution for us as of now.

Hello Keshab,

Unfortunately I am still not able to reproduce this issue.

This is what I've done:

1. Create a test project in 2013.1.911.

2. Add an Excel sheet as a data source.

3. Copy the project to another machine and open it with 2013.2.1327 in Visual Studio.

The project was updated correctly without a problem.

As a last resort we can setup a GoToMeeting and check the problem directly on your machine. Let me know what time zone you are in and your availability for the next days and I'll setup the meeting. Please note that I am located in Sofia, Bulgaria which is GMT +2.

Hope to hear from you soon.
