I've created a test and data driven it and running this works correctly; I've then added that Test to another test via the Test Explorer > Add > Test As Step.
When I run this "parent" test it calls the added Test but does not use the data in the Data tab of the "child" Test. How can I get it to run the Data in the Data Tab of the Child Test when it is executed by a Parent Test?
Thank you for your help.

Hi again Mark,

The behavior you are describing is expected, as we currently do not support running Tests As Steps along with each tests own data source.
There are a couple things you can do though:
1) You could run the tests on their own
2) Or you could create an external data source that contains all the data columns for all the tests and bind that to the outer test. This would allow all Tests as Steps to run with the data as expected.
The scenario is something we are considering supporting in future versions of WebUI Test Studio. In the menat time, we hope that the workaround mentioned above will work for you and please let us know if you have any other questions on the subject.

Hi Nelson,
How likely do you think it will that this feature will come in the future, as it would aid us alot?
Thank you,

Hello again Mark,
The feature is something we are looking to implementing in the future as it is a useful scenario. In the mean time, if you could try using the same CSV or Database source that contain the same Column names for data from the Tests as Steps, and then bind the source to the outer test. Please let us know if that will be a sufficent work around for the time being or if you have any other questions.

Hi Telerik,
I would just like to know if this feature is still being considered. I could really use it, and I think it would make the WebUI Test tool a lot more powerful if it just supported one or two levels of data inheritance to subtests from parent data driven tests.
Kind Regards
Christian

Hi Christian,
We are looking to support this in a future version of WebUI, but unfortunately it will not be a feature available in WebUI 2.0. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi All,
The new 2010.1 version of WebUI Test Studio supports data-driven tests as step in another test. The test studio execution engine now runs all iterations generating the expected test results as well.
I hope this helps!
