I've started playing with Icenium today and I'm enjoying the concept.

Will Icenium support custom Phonegap plugins?

Hi Jason,

We are very glad that you like the Icenium idea, there will be are great things
coming out next months so stay tuned. Regarding plugins support - it is very
high on our list. We are closely monitoring the Cordova mailing list, because v1.9
is supposed to bring a unified plugins description model that we can based our
support on.

Speaking about plugins can you share more details which plugins you are missing
the most?

Hey,

We've used the Cordova/PhoneGap SQLitePlugin (https://github.com/chbrody/Cordova-SQLitePlugin ) and the current Phonegap app that I'm working on uses it as well.  I was looking to see if I can run our current project in Icenium.  I believe we'll be doing more hybrid/phonegap apps in the future, so I'm definitely interested in what you guys are doing.

I tried pulling up Mist on my tablet in Chrome Beta last night and I couldn't select my projects to see if I could get it open.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for your feedback Jason. We will make sure Cordova-SQLitePlugin is fully supported once we introduce the plugins support.

There are still a couple of issues with mobile browsers and Mist. Some things work in Firefox, others in Chrome Beta. This is the reason why we are not advertising the tablet story publicly yet. We are actively working on this so expect more and more things to work in the future.

Sounds great!

We have a custom plugin that we have to develop for this project, so will Icenium allow developers to insert their own plugins?

Thanks again,
Jason

We will definitely enable this advanced scenario as well in the future. First we want to enable plugin support for all well known plugins that we can test them internally and make sure everything works as expected. Having this infrastructure in-place we will enable developers to add their own plugins into the mix.

I would second the Cordova plugin features. I want to integrate the Card.IO plugin for my app in the near future.

We would be interested in using the PhoneGap iOS Map plug-in: https://github.com/purplecabbage/phonegap-plugins/tree/master/iOS/MapKit

I wondered about other plugins myself.  In the forums, I went back and forth with Steve from Telerik.  The stated that Cordova plugins,  I am assuming it would be PhoneGap plugins since all PhoneGap does is package up the Cordova stuff,  would be implemented in version 1.6 at the end of the month (June 2013).  I am hoping for this, since I just subscribed for a subscription and this is one major thing that needed to happen and I was a little worried since I read that they currently only support 4 Cordova plugins currently.   Here's hoping.  An solid announcement would be a great thing to look forward to.

Hi guys,

This is just a follow up in case you have missed the Icenium 1.6 release, where we've added the ability to add Plugman-compatible Apache Cordova plugins to your Icenium project. For more information, see Working with Custom Plugins.

Hello Carlos,

Cordova and Phonegap code base as of now is pretty much the same and available generic PhoneGap plug-ins would work in Icenium.
