Firstly apologies if this is a newbie issue or not telerik specific but I am new to both website and silverlight development and after a week of slow but steady progress have hit a brick wall.

Despite my silverlight app building and deploying fine at the end of last week, for unknown reasons today when I build my website Visual Studio 2008 complains with:

(0): Build (web): Could not load file or assembly 'System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations' or one of its dependencies. The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))

and for the life of me I cannot work out why or what might have changed.  I've tried upgrading to the very latest telerik controls (RadControls_for_Silverlight_2009_3_1208_TRIAL.msi), cleaned my temporary internet files, rebuild everything numerous times and tried to find out why this file just wont load (it does exist on disk and looks like the correct version to me).

To be honest my lack of experience with this technology leaves me very short of ideas here on how to diagnose and correct the problem - if anyone has any advice on how to tackle this I would be very gratefull as currently I am at a brick wall and making zero progress.

thanks

John

Finally managed to find a solution to this, though not the cause.

Uninstalling the Silverlight SDK, Visual Studio tools and the silverlight toolkit, restarting the PC then re-installing those three components magically made my website project build again so I can only assume something somewhere had become corrupt.

It may be related to a BSOD I had earlier in the day, I can't say for sure.
