After the last update, I can't work with appbuilder anymore. This refers to both appbuilder client and visual studio extension. Logs tell me that it is a connection error.

Graphite logs are empty, just this line:
[2014-12-21 14:07:57.737] Log (Info,None): Version 2014.3.1218.1. Deployment location https://platform.telerik.com/appbuilder.

VS extension tells more:

[2014-12-21 13:55:45.632] Log (Info,Medium): AppBuilder for Visual Studio version 2014.3.1218.1. AppBuilder server location https://platform.telerik.com/appbuilder.

[2014-12-21 13:56:30.775] Log (Info,Medium): Update check completed. The extension is up-to-date. Authenticating with Telerik Platform...

Authentication dialog doesn't appear.

I've tried reinstalling both client and extension and cleared local user folders, it didn't help. I'm trying to connect the ip address from the logs (23.253.25.165:443) using the browser and it fails too. What should I do in this situation?

After 2 days of not working it suddenly started to work. I checked telerik status several times and no problems were displayed there. I hope there will be some more information about such situations in future.

Hello Odin,

Since the last AppBuilder release there were some authentication matters that could have provoked the faulty behavior on your side. You can check the incident report here. However, as I can see the time of submitting the ticket, most likely they are not the case, as everything was already fixed and working then.

Further, there was also a DDoS attack on the Rackspace DNS servers, for which you can find more here. It affected not a small part of the Telerik web infrastructure, resulting with unreachable sites or failing authentication. Still, the attack seems to had happened after your report.

I cannot think of any other incident the past days that could have caused such faulty behavior on your side. That's why I will kindly ask you, if you can send us the AppBuilder logs from %localappdata%\Telerik\BlackDragon\Logs. You should be able to attach them as an archive with your next reply. I am looking forward to it.

Also, I assure you that we have a strict workflow for updating our clients about ongoing incidents on our status page. However, in a lot of cases our clients are the ones that report such matters, even before the AppBuilder monitoring. This could lead to small delays, that we will definitely consider improving in the future.

Hi, Kaloyan. Yes, I saw both the error reports and overall status and was dissapointed to see that everything was supposed to be working. My previous message already was a copy of logs from both graphite and vse. There was nothing more there. Further logs have just few lines from successful connection.

Hello Andrey,

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced and we do understand your frustration at the lack of timely information and announcements. We can assure you that we are constantly working on improving our incident report and monitoring systems so that adequate information is available at all times possible. However, it seems that in this case we didn't manage to deliver and for this, we can only apologize.

Unfortunately, as this incident is becoming increasingly outdated, your report is isolated and Fiddler logs are unavailable, we might not be able to confirm what might have caused it. As my colleague pointed, our best guess is that it is related to the Rackspace DDoS attack. Judging by the provided logs from VSE, you have experienced some timeouts when trying to connect to our servers - this would be an expected outcome of the slow-downs and unavailability caused by the DDoS attack.

Again, please, accept our apologies for the lack of proper updates and thank you for taking the time to report the incident and for sincerely sharing your experience. This will help us improve our incident-handling process so that disappointment and frustration on our user side are brought to a minimum.

Hello Anish,

On 4th of May we were experiencing difficulties with our login infrastructure and this might have caused the reported behavior. Can you confirm if you are still experiencing this issue? If you are, you should delete the local cache of the extension for Visual Studio and let me know if this resolves the issue.

Please, let me know if this is helpful.

Garo
