Hi,

Is there a way to have the RadGridView filter use the DisplayMemberPath instead of the SelectedValueMemberPath.  For example I am using a combobox for Countries, so when the filter shows the SelectedValueMemberPath it has little meaning.   I temporarily changed to a simple name list and that works for now.  The problem will come later when I need to change the spelling.  I am also using other combobox columns where the need to change the spelling will be much more likely than a country column.

Thanks
Rich

Hi Richard Harrigan,

You may take a look at this blog post demonstrating how to filter the GridViewComboBoxColumn on the basis of its displayed value.

Hello Maya,
Thank you for the links. They offer a solution to the problem. That's right.
But what I want is not a custom filter control. I want to use the same standard filter control then the other columns.
Meaning the default filter control which is nice, just not displaying user readable info ;)
How can I use the default filter control in the case of my combobox filter?

Thanks a lot in advance,
John.

Hi John,

Currently, you can't do that. That is why we have prepared the blog post with the sample project in the first place.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Ross,
I have to admit that I don't understand why I should come out with some custom code to make work such a commonly used scenario...
The thing is that I do not want to have a different GUI when filtering a dropdowncolumn. Your default filter dialog box is very nice.
I want to use it and not some crappy dialog that I would build myself.
I want my UI to look slick and uniform...
Is there a way I can get ccess to that dialog to be able to reuse it?
Thanks a lot in advance,
John.

Hello John,

We have some plans to provide this out-of-the-box for a future version. Until then, the sample from the blog is the only solution.

Best wishes,

Then, I guess I'll have to wait...

Until then, I'll tell my customers the UI is ugly thanks to Ross ;)

Best regards,
John.
