Colspan / Rowspan

Hi,

I was wondering if colspan/rowspan is now possible within the gridview. I came across a post from a year ago which said it was on the to-do list but I can find no information about it since.

Any information would be appreciated.

Hello Martin,

We have such plans but I can not commit to a specific release date yet as the feature would require some major refactoring to scrolling and virtualization logic . Q3 2011 is the earliest possible release which may contain the feature.

Do you still have plans to release in in Q3 2011?

Are there any other ways to display multiple editable values in a cell. I imitated this to some extend by using CellTemplate with another RadGridView inside but it slows down scrolling and there are challenges to integrate smoothly with other grid features, such as when you editing and go down along the column using keyboard, to move focus and strat editing first value in the inner grid and then do the opposite after leaving last cell in the inner grid.

I would be appreciated for other suggestions, and rowspan / colspan support would really help.

Hi Ievgen,

For Q2 we will have part of the feature -  for the column headers only ( merged headers on many levels spanning over several columns).

Regarding the workaround - yes, retemplating the cell is the only possible approach with the current version . However I would recommend to put the heavy "multi editors" controls only in edit mode.For example setting the CellEditTemplate only. This way scrolling performance will not be hurt.
