I managed by Drag and Drop to create a circular reference.
A is child of B and B is child of A.
I would expect, that this is validated on the client - i.e. it should not be possible - in the same way as it is not possible to drop an item on itself.

I cannot reproduce such a problem based just on the provided info. Provide more details / steps to reproduce.
