I am evaluating various libraries for charting and comparing their features. I was wondering if the Telerik Silverlight Charts component. supports heat maps, interaction with data points, range selection, and zooming?

Here are some examples of what I mean:

    Selection (jQuery Flot):

Interaction with data points (jQuery Flot):

    Heat Maps (Google Charts):

    Hi Alex,

    Onto your questions:

    • RadChart does not provide support for heat maps. Generally we are unsure that such functionality should be added to the charting component as it seems more intuitive that it should be incorporated into a separate mapping component. At the moment we do not have immediate plans for the development of such component but I will forward your inquiry to our developers for future consideration.
    • As for data point interaction -- RadChart currently supports series item tooltips on mouse hover (demonstrated here) and mouse click event handling (suitable for drill-down scenarios as demonstrated here).
    • As for zooming / scrolling and range selection -- unfortunately the current version of the control does not support this feature. However, we have logged this in our TODO list and we will try to add it for the Q3 2009 release later this year.

    Best wishes,
