Hi there,

I have problem getting the chart controls to run. When I enter the demo site and select charts (this address: http://demos.telerik.com/silverlight/#Chart/FirstLook), then the following happens:

- I get the loading screen (Chart - loading examples)
- I see the resulting page, but all controls are empty ('No data series' message in each chart) for about 1-2 seconds
- then everything disappears and all I see is a grey screen all over the browser window (on right click on this grey area I get 'Silverlight' in context menu)

I have tried this is Internet Explorer 8, Chrome and Firefox and I always get this behavior on this machine. Charts work fine on all other machines we have tried and other telerik controls work fine on my machine .. it is just the Charts.
Also, I have used chart control in a Silverlight application we are developing and as soon as I added this control, the same happens in our application, i.e. getting grey screen.

I have reinstalled Silverlight, cleared all cache and data in all browsers and restarted computer several times. Is there anything else I could do?

I thank you for any advice in this matter.
~Martin

Hi Martin,

We are unaware of any similar issues with the Chart demo examples and the control itself. Could you , please, share more details as it is very difficult to pinpoint what the problem might be based on the information you have provided. What is the difference between the machines on which it works correctly and the one where it does not, are the silverlight and Telerik versions the same, etc.

What we could recommend would be to uninstall the controls, delete all remaining files and make a clean reinstall. Hope this would help.

Kind regards,
Nikolay

Hi Nikolay,

thank you for your response.

All machines are running the same version of Silverlight 4.0.60129.0. No one has the Telerik controls installed on their machines (as in not installed via installation package). Other than that, the machines should be from the same image with the same set of development software installed, but of course there are going to be differences as these machines are being used by different people. Is there any other software in particular which I could check with my colleagues? Maybe some corrupted library or such.

Today, I have installed Telerik RadControls for Silverlight Q1 2011 (version 11.1.315.0), but that should have not been necessary to view the demo website. In any case, it was not working before installing these controls and it is still not working, even when I run the demo page locally.

Could you specify, which files to manually delete after uninstallation, please?

I would appreciate if you have any other suggestions as to how to solve this issue. If you have other questions regarding my current machine, feel free to ask. Thank you in advance.

Here are some screenshots to give a hint about what's going on. Screenshot_1 is how the page looks like right after the Chart demo is loaded, but after the sample data is bound to chart controls (that's what I assume), whole screen turns grey. Clicking on the grey area anywhere in the browser brings up 'Silverlight' context menu.

Hi,

I logged on my machine with a different user and it was working. So I deleted my user profile and let Windows generate a new one and that solved the problem.

Cheers for your attention.
