Hello.

My company has recently purchased RadControls for Silverlight and had it installed on my PC for Silverlight development. Yesterday I decided to play around with the controls in Expression Blend 2 SP1.

So, I created a brand new Silverlight 2 application in Expression Blend and added references to Telerik.Windows.Controls.* as well as Telerik.Windows.Data. I built the solution and I see all the controls appear in the Asset Library. Now here is my problem. When I try to insert a RadCoverFlow control onto my default Page.xaml, I get an error: "Cannot create an instance of "RadCoverFlow" that appears in the designer. In the Error window appears an error saying: "HtmlPage_NotEnabled in Page.xaml". What is wrong? I though it was just as easy as dropping the control onto a page?

I can easily use a RadComboBox control or RadTreeView etc. but the RadCoverFlow is not behaving correctly. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Agis.

Hello Agis,

I apologize for the delayed answer. We tried to reproduce the problem with the latest version of RadControls and with your exact steps, but we were unable to get the exceptions you are getting. We had similar problem, but I believe that we fixed it in the last update of the suite on 17th November. If you are using earlier assemblies, most probably you will get this problem.

Could you please send us the exact version of your expression Blend and the creation dates of the files of our assemblies that you are using (Telerik.Windows.Controls.dll, Telerik.Windows.Data.dll and Telerik.Windows.Controls.Navigation.dll)? This will help us find your problem and solve it.

Sincerely yours,

Thank you Miroslav.

I was unaware that there was an update of the suite on the 17th. I check the dates of the DLL's as you requested and they are all dated November 6th. The version of the Telerik.Windows.Controls.Navigation.dll is 2008.3.1105.1020.

The software was installed by our IT infrastructure team and they do not keep up-to-date with the updates. If I download the latest version, do I have to re-enter any licensing information or will it recognize that I am already licensed?

Thanks,
Agis.

Hello Agis,

There is no licensing information that you need to enter when installing the controls. Just make sure that you uninstall the previous version first. You can download the latest installer from here:

Thank you very much for your response.

My problem is that this product was purchased by our IT Infrastructure department through (i believe) a 3rd party vendor. When I click on the link that was provided to me (http://www.telerik.com/account/purchases-and-downloads.aspx), it says "You have no purchases. You can download free trials first."

I don't want to have to go through the infrastructure team to install the update because it will honestly take them two weeks to do so. How can my profile be updated to show me as having purchased the controls (which we have).

Thanks,
Agis.

Hello Agis,

Indeed, your profile is not marked as customer and you cannot download the developer versions of our controls. However, our web site supports attaching additional profiles to purchased licenses as license developers, who can access priority support and non-trial downloads. You need to ask the owner of the purchased license to go to his purchases link:
http://www.telerik.com/account/purchases-and-downloads.aspx

and then add your email in the Developers section of the corresponding license. The complete instruction is here, check the License Developers section:
http://www.telerik.com/account/faqs.aspx

Please, let me know if you need additional instructions.

Thank you! Thank you!

It took a while for IT to uninstall and re-install the latest controls but now everything is fine. Thank you very much.
