[Solved] Can't install TelerikExtensionsForAspNetMvcSetup_2012_1_419.exe version

Hi,

I downloaded trial TelerikExtensionsForAspNetMvcSetup_2012_1_419.exe.
During installation in extraction step I'm recieving Access denied error. Please look at attached picture.
I tryed to run it as Administrator also, but the same error is happend.

I have Windows 7 and VS 2010 SP1 and 2008 also.

Hi Maya,

I am sorry for the trouble that you have encountered.

The most probable reason for the problem is that your antivirus software blocks the Telerik installer. Most of our customers who report this issue are using McAfee software. Is this the case with you too?

I suggest you to disable the antivirus software during the installation and enable it again when finished.

I had the same problem with TelerikExtensionsForAspNetMvcControlPanel_2012_2_607.exe and yes, my Windows XP SP3 PC is McAfee protected. I'm working in a corporate environment where I can not disable AntiVirus by myself so I had to call a system administrator to do so. But still the bootstrapper crashed with the same "Access is denied" error.

This is how I finally was able to install:

1. Boot Windows in Safe Mode with network.
2. Start the bootstrapper (above mentioned EXE).
3. Installation now seems to work.
4. But again it crashes now only after download was finished.
5. Error log pointed me to the actual MSI file(s) that were downloaded at %APPDATA%\Telerik\Installer\Downloads
6. Rebooted back to normal mode and finally was able to install the Telekik Extensions for MVC with the MSI file.

What an elaborate task to install your software. Please, why don't you offer MSI packages for download instead or as an alternative to the bootstrapper which causes problems in corporate environments?!

We provide msi installation packages too. You can find them under your Telerik account in the 'Manage products' section.
