Hi,

I'm investigating Test Sudio VS plugin however I'm running into an issue where I can succesfully record test with IE but cannot play them in IE.
Tests play fine in Chrome.
It's annoying because I also cannot do a "Run to here" as it starts IE even though I've selected Chrome.

I'm using 32 bit XP and I've tried all the steps at:
http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/support/documentation/user-guide/troubleshooting_guide/recording-problems/unable-to-launch-recorder.aspx

Any ideas ?
Here is the log:

Hello Clement,

Please excuse me for the delayed reply.

Since you took a look at this article from our Troubleshooting Guide and performed the steps described there please confirm that you disabled all IE Add-ons which is a common fix for this error.

Also, here are some other things to check:

  • Windows Updates - We've seen rolling back certain updates remedies issues similar to this.
  • IE Toolbars - If you've ruled out problematic Add-ons, there may be a toolbar interfering.
  • Anti-Virus - Do you run Anti-Virus software on your machine? Did it recently update? Does it plug in to the browser?
I am almost certain that the clue should be something in the IE browser since your tests run with Chrome. Please also confirm that the IE is properly configured for Test Studio automation as described here. Which version of IE explorer you are using? Did you try to upgrade it to the latest version supported? Make sure you always run Visual Studio as Administrator in order to be able to launch the browser.  Here is an article how to start a program as administrator in Windows XP.

I tried everything but still no success.
I have no toolbar and have tried disabling all the addons, including silverlight and flash.

I run windows xp / IE 8 (the most recent version runnable on XP).

What would be the reason why I can record but not play ???

Thanks

Hi,

My time zone is Sydney, Australia. I can do most weeks days at standard office hours.
Is it ok for you to do 9am Sydney, which I think is 6pm Austin ? Friday 4th ?
Do I need to install something ?

Thanks
