Not sure where to post this, but I guess it's relevant to the Telerik platform.

I cannot reach telerik.com nor nativescript.org unless I use a proxy service.
Does anyone know what is going on here?

Hello Bryan,

Thanks for posting to the Telerik developer forums.

We are not enforcing any such requirements for the websites in question. My suggestion would be to examine the behavior (may be connected to old/changed DNS records for the domains which for some reason are not changed in your network or are outdated).

If it persists the issue may be rooted in the local network configuration or HTTP debugging (proxy) software installed. Please examine these settings on your side.

Also, you can try with another network/device or with subdomains like https://platform.telerik.com, http://www.telerik.com/documentation. This may shed more light on what exactly the issue is.

I hope this helps.

Hi Anton,
I can only reach https://platform.telerik.com, not telerik.com/documentation,

I ran flushdns, but still I cannot reach the other websites, I get a timeout message when I try to.

Hi Boris,

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry to hear that the issue persists. At the time of your reply I have notified the respective engineering team about the issue you experienced and they will look into this according to their workload and schedule.

Also, I was wondering what is the page you see at the time of opening telerik.com or nativescript.org? Can you please supply a screenshot ? It may be helpful for the team to investigate this.

In addition. I'd like to specify that using the following addresses does not impose problems for our customers, can you please double check:

http://www.telerik.com/

https://www.nativescript.org/

I also ran a trace route for the websites in question and received a few hops that cannot continue (another likely reason is that a firewall is enabled) but opening the sites is functioning as expected.

Hi Anton,

This is what I am seeing when I visit those addresses without VPN:

Hello Boris,

The difference in your experience comes from the fact that platform.telerik.com is hosted on another environment. We need some more information from you in order to locate the root cause of this issue:
  • Run nslookup -debug on both sites. For example "nslookup -debug nativescript.org". We need that to check the received DNS records on your side.
  • Your outgoing IP address. You can find that by opening a website like http://whatismyipaddress.com (or any other that provides your external IP address)

After we get the information we are going to look into our load balancer and firewall settings for telerik.com and nativescript.org.

Hello Boris,

My name is Garo and I am stepping in for my colleague Iliev.

Thank you for sharing your IP address and the nslookup logs. The provided IP address used to be in the IP range of North Korea and was blocked based on the USA embargo list with which we comply. However, it seems that the IP address is now located in the Netherlands and is no longer present in the above-mentioned list. Having said that, I have contacted our administrators regarding this issue. They will run additional checks and if they pass, the IP address will be unblocked.

In the meantime, I will leave this ticket open and notify you as soon as I receive more information. Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,
Garo

Hello Boris,

Our administrators have made the necessary modifications and removed the block from the respective IP range. Please, can you check if you can access telerik.com and let me know if the issue is resolved.
