It seems that a lot of bigger danish cities are missing when zoomed out, in favour of smaller cities. Of the 5 biggest cities (Copenhagen, Århus, Ålborg, Odense, Esbjerg) in the country, only Copenhagen (capital) is shown. Instead random smaller cities are shown - Otterup, Brande, Hornslet. Generally Denmark seems very sparsely populated, with very few cities compared to all other countries. This isn't the case on the actual Bing maps which correctly shows all major (by danish standards) cities.

Is there some way to influence the way Bing displays cities?

Hello Autolog,

We don't control in any way the content of the map tiles which are provided by Bing. We just show the map tiles (images) available through the public Bing API. By the way, the Microsoft Silverlight Map control shows the same map images as our one. You can check it here:

Ok thanks, that's also what I expected. So I went on to ask the question on an Bing maps forum on MSDN (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/26920e70-15d2-43f3-92b7-1f265a8ca163/big-cities-missing-when-zoomed-out) and got the following response:

"The bing.com/maps site is often used to test new map layouts. If the city names are showing up properly there then this will likely show up in the developer API in near future."

Is it in any way possible for you to verify if there is going to be a new deloper API which shows the cities correctly, and when this might turn up in a new Telerik API?

Hello,

This answer doesn't mean that new API will be available at the Bing. It means that some time after new tiles (map images) will be available for customers through the existing developer API as well. The timeframe when the new tiles will be available is totally under the Microsoft control. We don't control it in any way.
