Affects:

Windows Client, Visual Studio extension

Error:

System.IO.IOException: The authentication or decryption has failed. ---> Mono.Security.Protocol.Tls.TlsException: The server stopped the handshake.

Reason:

iOS 10 has deprecated the commonly used security protocol (SSL) for communication with the device. This leads to an unhandled exception that crashes both the AppBuilder Windows Client and the extension for Visual Studio, when a device running iOS 10 is connected.

Resolution:

We have prepared a fix that switches the protocol communication to TLS and also prevents iOS device handshake errors from crashing the AppBuilder clients. The fix will be available in the AppBuilder 3.5 release, expected on September 26. Until then, please follow the workaround.

Workaround:

Disconnect the iOS 10 device and deploy your packages using QR code.

Edit: Release date updated in post.

Hi all,

Some users reported an issue with starting AppBuilder Windows Client and Extension for Visual Studio even after they disconnected their iOS 10 devices.

To fix this, delete the contents of the "%localappdata%\Telerik\BlackDragon\Cache" directory on your computer.

Hi all,

The fix for the AppBuilder clients has been released. When you start the AppBuilder Windows Client and Extension for Visual Studio, you will be prompted to update. Complete the update, restart the updated AppBuilder client and try connecting your iOS 10 device.

If you experience any problems with connecting your device after the update, feel free to contact the support team by opening a support thread and providing further details about your scenario.
