From what I gather from the documentation, the only plugins that you can use in Icenium are ones that Icenium decides to put in (currently the only plugin is the Child Browser). This means I cannot get some random plugin from GitHub and add it to my project.

Is that correct?
And if so, are there plans to allow adding your own plugins?

**EDIT**
I just saw another post about your plans to allow custom plugins in the future, but that was back in June. Excellent.
Do you have a better timeline of when custom plugins will be available?

Hi Marcus,

That's correct - we do support ChildBrowser only for now. We are currently evaluating which plugins are the most used in the community so that we can provide support for them out of the box as well. Having support for custom written plugins is something we have considered, but it is not in our intermediate plans.

Can you share more information about your use case? What plugins are you using? Have you written them by yourself? Are they open-sourced?

All the best,

Stefan,

Can we vote this up somehow? The lack of being able to use ANY plugin you want and not only the plugins that Icenium thinks would be good for us is really a limiting factor.

I would like to be able to use:
- push notifications
- notifications on status bar

Sure you do. You can go to the feedback portal and post the ones you use there. You can also find the SQLite one there which currently has the most votes and we are considering it as the next one to support.

Thank you for the link to the portal.

You write that the SQLite plugin has the most votes (9 currently), but I noticed that the plugin request has more votes (16).

The plugins item is the general support for plugins and its status is Completed as of v1.

Well, in this particular case I wanted to add in "copy to clipboard" functionality, so I found a plugin on GitHub: https://github.com/phonegap/phonegap-plugins/tree/master/iPhone/ClipboardPlugin .

Eventually I'll want to add in push notifications; UrbanAirship has a plugin for that.

I imagine there will be many more plugins that I'll find useful in the future, but I don't know what they might be yet.

Great. Can you post those to our feedback portal so that the community can vote for them and we can prioritize accordingly?

Hello Marcus,

This is just a follow up in case you have missed the introduction of generic Push Notifications in Icenium. Check out the Push Notifications With Cordova & Icenium blog post for detailed steps and code.

Also since Icenium 1.6 we've added the ability to add Plugman-compatible Apache Cordova plugins to your Icenium project. For more information, see Working with Custom Plugins.
