Hi,
I also logged a support ticket for this: 167734
But maybe somebody other on this forum will get some useful information on this problem:

I found some strange behaviour in my Silverlight Project.
I upgraded to the Telerik RC1 controls (Q3 2008).
Telerik.Windows.Controls, Telerik.Windows.Controls.Input and Telerik.Windows.Controls.Navigation are present in the project.

When I try to Update a Service Reference or add a new Service Reference (to a WCF service), I get the following error in Visual Studio:
"Error 7 Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'test'.  Please check other error and warning messages for details."

If I remove the references to the Telerik Controls, I can successfully update or add service references ...

I don't know if this has something to do with the presence of the Telerik Controls in the project. (I don't have any onther third party references to simulate this behaviour)

With Telerik Silverlight RC0 and MS Silverlight 2.0 RC I didn't have this problem.

Regards,
Nicolas

Hi,
I am facing a strange problem, perhaps similar to the one mentioned above.
Yesterday, I upgraded to Silverlight 2 RC1 and Expression Blend 2 SP1.
Also, I downloaded "Telerik_RadControls_for_Silverlight_RC1_Trial".
Now when I open a blend project and add reference to a Telerik dll, the reference is not getting added to the project. Also, no Telerik control shows up in the Asset Library.
Can you please tell me what could be wrong?

Regards,
Sandeep

Sandeep, I usually have a better luck doing the reference thing in VS than Blend. Try it there and see how it works!

Hi guys,

Yesterday we updated the distribution of RadControls for Silverlight, I believe that if you add the Telerik.Windows.Data assembly in your application the problem will disappear.

Kind regards,

Adding the Telerik.Windows.Data dll solved my problem.

Thanks,

Thanks Ben.!
I added the refence from VS and then opened the project from blend and it did add the reference in the blend.
However, if I try to edit the style of say tabitem, by going to Edit Control Parts(Template) -> Edit a Copy, I do not get the detailed xaml describing the template, which I can tweak. Is there a way to do this.
Thanks for your help for all the answers you have given me earlier.

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep;

I'll let Telerik support answer the template issue. And you're welcome for the rest!

Hi Sandeep,

Unfortunately Blend does not yet offer good support for 3rd party controls.

If you are familiar with Reflector you can copy a template or a style directly from the assembly resources.

Alternatively, we can post the template of a control for you to edit.

Please note that the structure of the default templates (not the look or the required elements) will change with the Q3 release since we will be optimizing the themes.

Do you need help with changing the templates?

Having this same issue with the Telerik release version.  Was working with the RC1 once I updated with the telerik.windows.data dll but now even with that am getting this same error ....
