Hi - I'm testing out your analystics solution. One of the key motivator for trying out your solution is 'Advanced Queries' (as described here: http://support.eqatec.com/home (June update)). I downloaded your API and was using it in a test app. The data is visible in the portable, but I'm unable to see the 'Advanced Queries' option on the graphs. Do I need to do something special to enable this? Thanks, Faris

Hi Faris, It wasn't activated in trial accounts. It is now, so simply login again and it should work. Please let us know if you need further assistance! Best regards, Eigil Rosager Poulsen EQATEC Team

Thanks. I see the reports now. Another question for you: I noticed that the data fails to send when I'm running the app within my corporate network. This is a big issue since the app we build runs mostly inside corporate networks. Do you guys have a recommended solution for these scenarios? Thanks, Faris

If there is no Internet access directly from the client machine within the corporate network we have an "EQATEC Analytics Collector". It's a Windows Service that can receive data from clients within the network and pass the data on to our servers e.g. through email. The Collector collects and zips the data and sends the data as email-attachments. The Collector is also available as a .NET component, that can be integrated in one of your own services that you may already have in place? Other means of data exchange than email could probably also be made available. Could you describe your setup in more detail? Do you have multiple installations on separate corporate networks? Thanks Eigil. Couple more questions: Is there a public API we can access the data from the analytics backed? Something we can use if we want to integrate the data with our internal processes?

Hi Faris (I'll grab this thread from Eigil) We have a limited public API that enables extraction of a subset of the data available via the Silverlight client. The API is in an alpha-stage at the moment, so we are not yet ready to share too much detail about it, only to say that accessing data via a REST-like interface is a direction we are headed. However, as we are currently in the process of expanding and refining this API I'd be very interested in hearing about your specific integration scenarios and needs. We want to tailor our service to best fit our customers and getting the real world requirements from as many users as possible is something that we try to do on every occasion. So if you have some ideas as to how data could be integrated, even in very loose terms, I'd love to know more. Hope this help. If you have any further questions or feedback or if you can share some integration thoughts don't hesitate to get back in touch Best regards Soren EQATEC Team

Thanks. The two scenarios we a looking for are: 1. Automate the integrating some of the usage data with our internal CRM/internal metrics data so we can get better view of our customer segments. 2. Compensating for some of the reports that are not already in your system. For example, give me a list of all installationIDs that were having long startup times so we can dissect and look at their env. metrics. Currently such reports will have to be done by exporting your Log to excel and doing some extra filtering on it.

Hi Faris Regarding your questions: 1) If you are looking for extracting data for specific users from our service, I think we'll have to support filtering on InstallationIDs within our public API. It is not something we currently have, but I don't think that it'll be to hard to hard to add the filtering. It is perhaps the kinds of data that you are interested in that might be less accessible (and require custom querying, which we are looking to support as well). Again, I'd have to know a little bit more on the specific kinds of data that you'd want on an individual customer then I can tell you if/how you'd be able to obtain it. If you are looking for more general usage data (such as data views from different countries, different versions etc) that is not tied to specific users but of a more broad nature, then that data should already be accessible in what we have designed at the moment. Perhaps you can give a hint as to which of the two directions you are looking for. 2) With our Advanced Query we are able to filter down to sessions with e.g. a long startup time that you have measured. You can apply such a filter on specific environmental views to get a feel for the data. While not supported at the moment, such a filter could also be applied in the Installations view where you are able to obtain the full list of installationids (from the Menu at the top) that match the current filter. This is a bit manual, however, and is only really plausible for hunting down issues for specific installationids. Our current thinking is to not support these advanced queries in the public API, since they internally rely on background processing and potentially could be long-running. Hope that gave you a bit more info to work with. I'd be happy to dig further into specific data requests and scenarios to see if the service can assist you and your business Best regards Soren EQATEC Team
