Hi Telerik,

We are planning to use Kendo UI for the web UI in our project. I would like to know does our client need to purchase their own licence for different situations:

1. Host the application in their server without any maintenance.

2. Host the application in their server with maintenance which not related to any UI part (only backend modification).

3. Host the application in their server with maintenance on UI part but no any change on Kendo UI code.

Hi,

No developer license is needed for scenarios 1) and 2).

For scenario 3 your client must purchase licenses for each developer that is actively working on the project, as per our EULA.

Hi Tsonev,

Thank you so much for your speedy reply. As my understanding, the Kendo UI licence is perpetual, my client can pay for the first year licence per developer. After that, they can have their modification on UI part. And renew subscription fee is required if they need support from Telerik or update the kendo UI.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello,

Your understanding is correct - renewing the license is only required to obtain updates and support.
