Hi,

I am software engineer.
Regarding license, would you mind letting me know whether it is ok for me to use Fiddler for work or not?
I do not embed the fiddler to product.
I will only use to analyze web packet.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, Masa--

As explained by the license agreement shown by the installer, you may use Fiddler for any lawful purpose.

(In contrast, integrating the FiddlerCore library into an application you write may require obtaining a commercial license).

Dear Fiddler Team,

After reviewing the product license provided by Telerik in the FiddlerCap free download we would like to get some clarity on the IP licensing.

In paragraph 3, the license language refers to 'private' use and 'public' use, but does not specially refer to 'commercial redistribution'. This is the troubling language:
"You may not host or redistribute this software publicly (e.g. from a public Internet site); instead point users to http://fiddlercap.com/ to download.  "

Can you please confirm the redistribution rules?

FiddlerCap is available for free download from FiddlerCap.com.

If you wish to redistribute FiddlerCap inside your organization (say, on your Intranet), that’s fine. However, our license terms do not permit you to redistribute FiddlerCap to the public (say, on the Internet); instead you should simply point users to the download at FiddlerCap.com.

If for some reason that doesn’t work for you and you’d like to inquire about custom license terms, please let us know by email.

Could you please confirm whether the above condition is also applicable to Fiddler?
i.e. Can I redistribute both "FiddlerCap" and "Fiddler" inside our organization (our Intranet) ?

Fiddler   : http://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler

Hello,

You can find the information you need in Fiddler's EULA.

Thank you for the information.
Now I understood as follows.
If there is a problem, please let me know.

- I can redistribute Fiddler inside our organization (our Intranet).

- After the installation of Fiddler, there is license.txt which includes
"Fiddler Syntax-Highlighting Addons License" and it says
"You may not redistribute copies of this software."
But since "Fiddler Syntax-Highlighting Addons" are currently included in Fiddler,
I can also redistribute "Fiddler Syntax-Highlighting Addons" inside our organization (our Intranet)
as long as "Fiddler Syntax-Highlighting Addons" are included in Fiddler without any modification.

Rather unfortunately, we cannot really give legal advice on interpreting our license. You will have to seek for legal advice on your side.

From a technical aspect it's always better to get the software from the original publisher since that is about the only way to be sure what one is getting is the latest, unmodified version.

If you ever would have doubts about the license for the program you want to use, they should give you the same answer.
