Installing on macOS
Forge supports macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Intel and Apple silicon. The release assets are frg-<version>-x86_64-darwin for Intel and frg-<version>-aarch64-darwin for Apple silicon. The macOS binaries are Apple Developer ID signed and notarized.
Install with the installer script
curl -fsSL https://github.com/telerik/forge/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh
With GitHub CLI:
gh release download --repo telerik/forge --pattern 'install.sh'
sh install.sh
The installer detects the OS and architecture, checks the SHA256 checksum against SHA256SUMS, and installs the macOS binary to /usr/local/bin/frg (using sudo if needed). On macOS, it removes the quarantine attribute.
See Installation Overview for common installer options, environment variables, and exit codes.
Install the binary manually
- Find your architecture:
uname -m
x86_64 means an x86_64 asset. arm64 or aarch64 means an aarch64 asset.
- Download the asset for your platform. For macOS, use
frg-<version>-x86_64-darwinorfrg-<version>-aarch64-darwin:
ASSET=frg-<version>-x86_64-darwin # or frg-<version>-aarch64-darwin
curl -fsSLO "https://github.com/telerik/forge/releases/download/v<version>/$ASSET"
With GitHub CLI:
gh release download v<version> --repo telerik/forge --pattern "$ASSET"
- Optionally verify the download. See Troubleshooting Installation Problems for GPG signature and checksum verification steps.
- Make the file executable and move it to a folder on your
PATH:
chmod +x "$ASSET"
sudo mv "$ASSET" /usr/local/bin/frg
- Check the installation:
frg --version
On Apple silicon Macs, use the aarch64-darwin binary. The Intel binary also runs through Rosetta 2, but more slowly.
Verify the macOS binary
You can check the code signature of the installed binary with:
codesign --verify --verbose /usr/local/bin/frg
If macOS blocks a binary downloaded in a browser, see Troubleshooting Installation Problems.
