Hello,

When using the Charting component, the WPF version of the Office Black theme renders the chart's background in Black with a nice glossy/wavy look to it. The Silverlight 4 version of the same control and the same theme renders it in a white background. To my company, the main selling point of the Rad controls is the ability to use practiacally the same code-base and maintain the same look and feel between the WPF and Silverlight versions. I must be doing something wrong for the same theme to look so very different; would someone point out what I'm missing?

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi Anthony Ortiz,

With Q1 2010 we introduced a major facelift for all 6 built-in themes in order to deliver a more consistent look and feel for all Silverlight and WPF controls. This was triggered after a lot of feedback concerning inconsistencies in the visual appearance among our controls. To address these we unified the templating approach and streamlined naming conventions for resources. All this came hand by hand with redesigning the appearance to achieve consistency in visuals. We are fully aware of the fact that introducing so big changes will affect the people who have heavy customizations or have built their own custom theme. We shipped an early preview with our Q1 2010 release and the majority of our clients were very satisfied with the new appearance.

It seems that in your application you are using an older version of our WPF controls hence the old appearance is still live. Upgrading to our latest official release you'll get the exact look for WPF as the one for Silverlight. If you need the black background you can easily make  a custom theme based on one of the current ones in order to achieve the look and feel you search.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
