Hello James,

We have uploaded the latest version of the OpenAccess SDK browser and we have added a promised Windows Forms N-Tier example. The example takes advantage of the numerous controls for Windows Forms and comes in C# and Visual Basic flavors. Can you have a look at it and tell us how close the example is to your scenario?
Do notify us whether you would like to see a CRUD grid sample so that we can give more customized guidance.

Hello,

I would like to see a CRUD example in VB if possible.

Thanks

Gonzalo

PS. I am working with EF4 and RIA services at the moment and would like to move into Open Access ORM.

Hello Gonzalo,

We are attaching a simple CRUD example with the windows forms RadGrid. Note that we are using the NorthwindOA database which can be found in the DatabaseData folder of the solution. The database is also shipped with the OpenAccess SDK browser. The connection string may need to be changed depending on the name of your SQL server instance. The example uses the default settings for the SQLEXPRESS server. You will need to upgrade the references to the OpenAccess assemblies to match the ones of your installed version. Here is a blog post elaborating on the matter of the reference upgrade procedure. The sample also uses the latest official release of the trial version of the RadControls for Windows Forms. The needed assemblies can also be found in the Assemblies solution subfolder.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions about the example.

Best wishes,
