Hello,

In my application using FiddlerCore, I see that Windows Search Box on Windows 11 isn't able to make connections to the internet. I would like to be able to get this to work in some way but I'm not sure how.

I did some investigation by trying out Fiddler Everywhere and found that the same problems occurs most of the time, except sometimes when the root certificate is installed to machine store. I tried installing the certificate to machine store for my FiddlerCore application but it still didn't remedy the issue.

Please let me know if there's any solution!

Hello Rohan,

The Windows Search is basically a UWP application that uses a loopback exemption. Such applications do not respect the Fiddler proxy (due to loopback exemption), and you won't be able to capture their traffic while using the system proxy in FiddlerCore or Fiddler Everywhere. The Fiddler Classic application includes a built-in add-on called WinConfig, which contains the EnableLoopback utility, specifically designed to enable loopback for selected UWP applications in Windows. However, this is an independent tool that is not part of the FiddlerCore library.

If you want to make the search bar work (you still won't be able to capture its traffic), you can bypass (while using the FiddlerCore CONFIG property sHostsThatBypassFIddler) the endpoint used by the Windows Search bar so that it doesn't go through the system proxy and instead uses the default upstream.
