Thanks so much for getting the Mac version of Fiddler started. I know it's buggy and just the first step, but I'm super stoked that this is happening.

Very much the same sentiment as Brian. I tried to run the Winforms-On-Mono implementation. The UI was buggy and I sometimes couldn't navigate to pages on the internet normally, though I'm willing to bet there was a setting to change in Fiddler that might've alleviated this. One thing I thought was interesting was that I was using it on a mac connected to one external monitor, and when I dragged Fiddler over from the primary laptop monitor to the external/secondary monitor, the drop down menus ceased to work and swathes of the UI went blank. Like, the drop downs were visible, and the action of clicking would cause the UI to show clicking, but then no menu would appear. This behavior didn't happen on the primary monitor. Thought you'd want to know.

(MBP Retina 13 inch mid 2014 / macOS 10.12 / 2.6 GHz Core i5 / 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / Intel Iris 1536 MB Graphics).

Thanks for your work, Mr. Yovtchev, keep it up.

Yep the WinForms implementation of Mono isn't really stable on Mac. Dragging and resizing the window in my experience makes things a lot worse.

Still even with that UI Fiddler is useful in a large number of scenarios on Mac so we deemed it valuable to the community. It brings value for us too since the beta versions will help us stabilize and improve the back end. As for the UI we are planning on rewriting it using another technology before we go out of beta.

Thank you for your support, guys. If you want to help us in that endeavor, please, participate in the Fiddler Improvement Program by enabling the relevant setting in your options window. That collects anonymous usage data and it really helps us better plan our efforts on the Mac build.

Hi there, I have just downloaded Fiddler to my brand new Macbook Pro and it runs with extremely poor responsiveness.  Using the tool is very frustrating and slow.  The UI also flickers a lot and in some cases just does not draw properly at all.  I wonder if this is a known issue, or is there some amount of Mono (or other) configuration that could be changed to possibly help this?

I have used Fiddler heavily before on Windows with great success; I'm hoping that I can do the same on Mac! :)

Thanks,

Nick

@nicholas yea that was my experience trying to use the mac / winforms client (see above). according to Yovtchev's post from Oct 2016, Telerik meant to push it out as public Beta even though it was unstable because the usage feedback was important. Hopefully the rewrite / Beta 2 / wtv is still in the works.

I too was really hoping for a MAC product as good as the windows.

Not there yet.

Having issues even getting the new installation to open with Mono 5.0.2

Please don't quit this development!

Here is the news I promised - http://www.telerik.com/blogs/fiddlercore-for-net-standard-and-fiddler-orchestra-the-future-of-fiddler.

So, yeah, one way or another the MAC platform will get production quality Fiddler.

That's fantastic news! I really look forward to a clean and stable version of Fiddler that can be installed and run without all the Mono framework hassle on Mac
