Hi, I'm trying to use this control with Silverlight 4 and VS 2010, I have 3 questions:

1. I'm checking the demo related to this control, the one that shows BMW cars. When I click on the first car, the image is expanded with the information and after clicking again over the same car, the image is cropped instead of being resized.

2. If I decide to use this control as start page with different options, can I have whatever I want inside each content of my RadTileView item? for example, can I have a Chart inside that goes to the database and bring info? and a gridview in another content?

3. I was checking the file RadControlsSilverlightCourseware.pdf but I didn't find examples of this control, could you please tell me where can I find samples of each control?

Thank very much.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for contacting us.

1) We are aware of this issue and it will be fixed with our Q2 release which is scheduled for the middle of July this year. I am attaching a fixed version of the FirstLook example.

2) Yes, you can put whichever visual element you like as content to RadTileViewItem, since the Content property of RadTileViewItem is of type object.

3) You are correct that the course ware document does not contain information about RadTileView. However, I'd recommend you go through RadTileView's help page as it explains most of its features. You can always contact us through a forum post or support ticket whenever you have a question.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Kind regards,

Thank you for your answer. If I'm using RadTileViewItem, do you think that is a good idea as a container of controls?, because inside of each one, I'm planning to put grids, charts and images. Do you have a similar example ?, I want to be sure that the control will be ok with my request.

Best regards.

Hello Chris,

Placing grids, charts, images etc. will not be a problem to RadTileView. If you place way too many grids and charts there might be a small performance penalty but we are actively working on improving the animations, so by the end of this release (scheduled for the middle of July this year) we will have a mechanism that will optimize the animations when many items are present.

I am attaching an example that shows placing charts, grids, scheduler and ribbonbar in tileview. Give it a try and let me know how the performance feels. Have in mind that this is a pretty heavy example.

On a side note, I'd like to inform you that we've just released an online tool that allows you to reduce the size of your Silverilght applications. For more information, please visit http://blogs.telerik.com/blogs/posts/10-06-10/telerik_assembly_minifier.aspx

Sincerely yours,
