The next release of Chromium has breaking changes that may affect my application.  What is the easiest way to test with the beta version of the Chromium webview?  Is installing the beta version of Chrome enough?  For reference, here is the issue that has the potential to break a lot of apps:  https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=435547#c21

OK, I've installed the Chrome Beta version (59) but the app still uses the old version (58).  Any thoughts on how to get my app to load the beta?

I don't know what the official 'Telerik' way of doing this is but I was able to test using the following process.

  1. Download Android Studio
  2. Create Emulator image that has Google Play installed.  There are only a couple of emulators that allow this and you have to have a newer version of Android Studio.
  3. Install Chrome Beta from Play Store.
  4. Enable Developer Options on Android Emulator
  5. In Developer Options chose the 'Chrome Beta' web view.
  6. Enable USB Debugging
  7. Use AppBuilder to deploy to Android Emulator
  8. Test away...

Hello Mike,

We do not have an official or verified way of testing beta versions of the Chromium web view and I am glad to hear that you were able to find a valid approach. Additionally, I would like to thank you for sharing this with the community and inform you that I have updated your Telerik points as a small token of our gratitude.

Visit the Telerik Verified Plugins Marketplace and get the custom Cordova plugin you need, already tweaked to work seamlessly with AppBuilder.
