Can I have both SL3 and SL4 controls on the same dev box?

When I used the automatic installer for the SL4 controls it detected the SL3 controls and asked me if I wanted to upgrade.  I chose No and the installer exited.

If I can have both what do I need to do to get the coltrols registered and showing in the VS 2010 toolbox?

Thanks

Hello Tom Thomas,

You can't have both installations simultaneously, however you can have the SL4 installation which will add the controls automatically to the VS2010 toolbox. Then you can download one of the following two:

First one contains exactly the same files as the installation with the Demos, help etc... , the second contains only the assemblies. Then you need to follow the steps from this help article to add the SL3 controls to the toolbox. Note that the article is a little bit old and with the official release of VS2010 you no longer need to copy the assemblies in the Public Assemblies folder.
If you have further questions please let me know.

All the best,

Are you planning to fix this behaviour? Because in my point of view, this is just a matter of the installer....

Hi Paulo,

After Q2 2010 (expected in mid July) we will not be providing installation for Silverlight 3 - only ZIP packages, hence you will be able to have both suites on the same PC. You could still do the same by installing one of the MSI files and manually unzipping the ZIP package into a separate folder.

Sincerely yours,
