Rename table vice drop and create

I was testing the forward mapping database update functionality to try and better understand it.  My recommendation for an enhancement is that if I rename a column using the forward mapping - then just rename the column vice dropping the old column and creating a new one, in this way the data is preserved.  Obviously there are instances when this may not work such as changing the datatype but when it can be done I think it would be beneficial.
