I am preparing for a total redevelopment of our software.  I am seriously considering going with ASP.NET MVC for many good reasons.  I am very impressed with the MVC UI extensions/controls currently offered by Telerik.  However, there is huge scope for more controls and more functionality within the existing controls.

My question is how much priority is Telerik giving to the development of the MVC side of things?  Is it receiving equal priority and emphasis in terms of resources and future strategy?  Will we see significant releases per quarter as per the aggressive development that Telerik touts?

Comment from Telerik would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ozzy Knox,

As the team leader of the ASP.NET MVC team in Telerik I can commit that we plan to put some serious effort and resources in the development of Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC. Having in mind that we are a relatively new division (the team was established not so long ago) I think we have made some good progress. With the upcoming Q2 release we will have the following components:
  • Grid
  • HTML Editor
  • TreeView
  • Menu
  • TabStrip
  • Panelbar
  • Calendar
  • DatePicker
  • ComboBox, DropDownList, AutoComplete textbox
  • Numeric TextBox, Percentage textbox, Currency textbox
  • Window
5 of them (Window, Editor, ComboBox, DropDownList and AutoComplete) were developed during the last quarter which I think is as aggressive as it could be :)

We plan to add new UI components and features to the existing ones with the next releases.

I hope you're right Antanas, I've just received your November newsletter all about the Q3 release and there's not much mention of MVC, and then not until you click through to the website and see that a datetime picker extension is what we get. Whoop.
I don't mean so sound ungrateful but the MVC dev community is desperate for controls of your quality, however as is the way with market forces, this will only last so long. The iron is hot now.

Hello Derek,

In the previous quarter we released 5 new components. This caused a late Q2 release. As a result we had less time for Q3 development. That's why we have implemented "only" 2 new components - TimePicker and DateTimePicker. This time we invested more in adding features to existing components - mainly because of end user feedback. The full release notes are here.

If you want to influence our planning and future releases you can take a look at the not scheduled items and cast your vote.
