Hi,

I have a question for all of you. Since you are all serious programmers I figure this is the right forum for this question.

My boss has (after about 6 months of nagging) given me about 5000 USD to purchase a new computer. Since I love programming and could not care less about hardware I don’t know how to get the most ‘bang for the buck’.

What should I focus on, processor, ram or what?

Any great ideas?

Regards

if i am the one to be asked in this case, i would rather go on processor. however, which one you choose will depend on how you use your computer. if you spend most of your working hours with the computer you may need a fast computer to work on. good processor will help you this case. you may not forget about the memory capacity of your computer.

Hello all!

I'd also rather go on processor. Yako is right,  to have fast computer you have to look for good processor.
