Hi guys

I wonder if someone could help me out with this. I'm looking into performance issues on a website https://collaborate.eversheds-sutherland.com (213.212.88.203). The issue is that every now and again within the site, various pages hang/time out, sometimes kicking out a logged in user back to the login screen.

There's no pattern in terms of time of the day, it happens completely randomly. The issue only occurs when users are connected to the office LAN. The website is hosted externally and works absolutely perfectly when on 4G or home Internet. The problem lies somewhere within the office LAN infrastructure.

My gut feeling was DNS or asynchronous routing. Yesterday, I started using Fiddler and came across a DNS failover error (please see attached).

My apologies for the amateur question but I'm extremely new to Fiddler. Would this DNS flag indicate an internal DNS issue or is this a red herring and should I continue down the routing avenue?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

B

Hi Bal,

This is definitely not an amateur question and I am happy to see that Fiddler provided the information to help you. Although, if this is happening only when the DNS Failover header is present, it is likely the authentication implementation is not silently reauthenticating upon failover. DNS Failover means that the load balancer has moved to a new instance of the site. If the previous instance of the site is unavailable then the request will time out.

As you mentioned, this is likely an infrastructure issue and, potentially, an application issue.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions regarding Fiddler and thank you for using the forums.
