When I try to runt he Fiddler installer I get an error.

After agreeing to the EULA and specifying an install folder I get an error that says:

"A Progress Telerik Fiddler component appears to be running. Please, close all Progress Fiddler-related applications and try again."

I am not currently running Fiddler. I don't know how to look for what is considered "related."

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, could you please confirm that either Fiddler or Fiddler Script Editor is not running and not being used by other programs while you are trying to run the Fiddler installer.

If it helps, I had the same problem on Windows 10. Solved by running the downloaded installer with 'Run as Administrator'.

Autoupdater just appeared to be running as non-elevated, so wasn't able to replace some files.

I am trying to update fiddler and getting error "A Progress Telerik Fiddler component appears to be running. Please, close all Progres Telerik Fiddler-related applications and try again."  I don't have any thing running and still getting the error.

I am trying to update Fiddler from Update Announcement (From v5.0.20173.50948 to v5.0.20181.14850).

Attached error png for your reference

Appreciate your help

Thanks,

Hi Deepak,

For some reason the installer is unable to write the Fiddler.exe file. Make sure that you have write access for the installation folder.

Hi Simeon,

Thank you for your reply. Very sorry for the late reply.  I am administrator on my laptop (windows 10) and also running the updater in Administrator mode. I have full access to the Fiddler.exe folder.  I am still running in the same issue.  I am also not able to uninstall Fiddler due to error "A Progress Telerik Fiddler component appears to be running".  I did checked the task manager and found nothing running.

Appreciate any help

Thanks,

Deepak

Both the installer and the uninstaller try to copy or delete the Fiddler.exe file. For some reason they are unable to do this on your computer with your admin account.

Could you, please, try to delete the Fiddler.exe file manually and then run the uninstaller and after that the installer.

Thanks Simeon.  I managed to resolve this my starting Windows 10 in Safe Mode. This allowed me to uninstall Fiddler successfully.

Regards,

Deepak
