Hi,
Is it possible to drag a cell to other cells to copy it's value to those other cells ? (like you can do in Excel)

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hi NS,

Unfortunately, this is not possible with the current RadGridView implementation. We will be definitely looking into implementing the feature at some point. However, I cannot promise that this will happen with Q3 2009. We will surely continue our research on the matter and we will do our best to implement the feature in the Q3 2009 version of the RadGridView control. If we do not manage to do this we will most probably prepare an example showing how to achieve this goal.

Sincerely yours,
Nick

Hi Nick,
thank you for your answer.

Would it be theoretically possible to when a line in a grid is selected (or an individual cell is seletected) to implement a context menu that says "copy and past previous cell's values".

This would avoiding drag/drop.

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hi NS,

I believe this example could be easily modified to display context menus for cells rather than for header cells.

Let me know if you need assistance on adapting this to your project.

Best wishes,

Hi Nick,
Have you any news that this feature will be implemented in the Q3 release ?
And if it isn't in the release ... would you want to help with preparing an example on how to do this ? (like you told back in July) :-)

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hello Nicolas,

I've made for you small example to illustrate you how to achieve copy / paste cell values using context menu. You can find the example attached.

Thank you very much Vlad ! This is great stuff.

I have a couple of additional questions:

Would it be possible to do a multiple cell selection without selecting the whole row and do a copy/paste with that range of selections ? If a do a multi select of cells, the whole row is highlighted. Can the row highlight be removed in that case ? (only selected cells are highlighted)
Additionaly: would it be possible to select a whole row and copy/paste that row ?

Or are the questions above really stretching the possibilities of the current release of RadGridView ?

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

Currently the grid cannot select range of cells - only single/multiple rows selection is supported however we will do our best to provide multiple cells selection as soon as possible. Indeed if you press CTRL+C you will copy selected rows in the clipboard however you will need our latest internal build for Q2 or our latest Q3 beta.

Vlad

Hello Kumar,

At the time, this feature is not available in RadGridView at the moment. You can log a feature request and vote for it in our Public Feedback Portal
RadGridView offers cell range selection, which allows selecting a region of cells by mouse dragging.

Nik
