Hello,

WebUI TestStudio can not successfully drive the MENU so that I can navigate to a target page to start a test.  The Menu has 1 subMenu and the Click Action will fail to bring up the target web page.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony,

WebUI Test Studio currently does not support this ASP control by default. However, we are listening to customer feed back for support for this and other ASP control types in future versions of WebUI Test Studio. We appreciate the post and any suggestions you have for the product.

Sincerely yours,

Hi Tony,

This is just a follow-up as we tested this further with the AJAX Menu controls.

Can you please elaborate on which Menu control have you noticed the flaw with? WebUI Test Studio supports RadMenu for ASP.NET AJAX as well as the menu that comes with ASP.NET AJAX toolkit. You can review this video for details about RadMenu support.

Here is a link to the Toolkit Menu test page we tested and recorded over:
http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/HoverMenu/HoverMenu.aspx

There is a Hover Over Desktop action that you can add as a step before clicking on the submenu item. You can do this by the following steps:
1) Enable Highlighting on the Overlay Surface
2) Highlight the outer menu
3) Right click to bring up the recording context menu
4) Select Desktop Actions -> Hover Over -> Specific Point
5) Select the point on the highlighted element to hover over

Have this step occur before the click on the submenu item and it should work.

Let us know whether this helps or if you mean another Menu control.

All the best,
Nelson

Hi. I am testing this new AUT Software with an application that is using RadMenu. I tried recording and then invoking the 'Hover Over' to a specific point like you mentioned, but the recording does not actually record an action. Also, what good is it to use this Software with RadMenu if we need to rely on a specific x,y Coordinates to 'Hover' or 'Click'. I could go back to using QTP which allows for x,y clicking on the page. We are using Radmenu to Implement Site Navigation. Right now the RadMenu has 'Expand Nodes' (Parent) which with the testing software when ran works fine, but the RadMenu nodes that are for URL navigation 'Select' (which work fine in manual mode), do not work when running the test. Thanks for all your help.

Ok, sorry about that. We are actually using RadPanelBar to display Navigation Links for a web application. Let me know if there are any known issues with WebUi Test STudio and RadPanelBar when running a test and trying to click on a RadPanelBar Item that is a URL link. Thanks.

Isaac.
