Hello! My name is Igor.

I have a question. In my case I have "Live Traffic (Paused)" instead of "Capturing".  I cannot track my traffic if I open browser (chrome) on my own. There is no any tracking. I can track it only if I open browser by clicking "Open browser" button inside Fiddler. How I can resolve it? What settings should I enabled or disable in my browser and maybe some system settings?
Os: MacOs Catalina 10.15.7

Fiddler 4.1.2

Chrome  110.0.5481.177 (There is no VPN)

Should I put some value to system proxy?

Hello Igor,

When the Live Traffic button does not change its state from Paused (when switched ON), that means that something prevents the Fiddler proxy from being set up as a system proxy for your active WiFi adapter. That could be caused by various reasons, including having multiple active adapters, running a security tool, network policy, administrative restrictions, antivirus, firewall, etc.

First, you could ensure you have only the WiFi adapter active on your Mac. You can achieve that by explicitly disabling/removing all other network adapters. You can also manually test if Fiddler properly recognizes your active WiFi adapter through the steps described here ...

The ability to use Open Browser also indicates that you can run a preconfigured browser instance that goes through the Fiddler proxy (so that it verifies that Fiddler runs properly as a local proxy). You can also consult your network administrator if some security policies or tools prevent Fiddler from being set as a system proxy and ensure that Fiddler is started with administrative rights.

Finally, you can open and investigate the Fiddler Everywhere log files (accessible through Help > Open Application Logs Folder). The logs contain information about various events, including messages and errors related to Fiddler trying to set itself as a system proxy (upon toggling the Live Traffic switch). You can also enable verbose logging and send us the logs in a private ticket (avoid posting them in the public thread as they might contain sensitive information)
