I've got the following question about how to correctly license the Testing Framework:
When downloading the Testing Framework, it says it's free, also I don't have to enter any payment information. Now, in the EULA (http://www.telerik.com/community/license-agreement.aspx?pId=691) it says
2. Support and Updates
2.1 Support.
[...]
2.1.2 If You have ten (10) or more Framework Users, You are obligated to purchase dedicated technical support for the Software as provided in http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/purchase/faqs/free-testing-framework.aspx.
Does this mean, we are obligated to purchase the support package once we have ten users of the Testing Framework, or once we have have ten users *and* require support via the regular support channels?
Thanks, Michael

Once you have 10 users working with the framework, you must purchase 10 support packages in order to stay within the bounds of the EULA. Do you need an estimate? If so, please send me an email directly, and I'll be happy to help you.

Thanks for the quick response. We don't have 10 users yet, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind for when the time comes :)
Best regards, Michael

Could you please clarify how should we count framework users in next case (actually related to our company):
Automation Team:
- Develop own automation framework + Unit test. TTF is used as web engine to interact with browsers.
- 5 team members.
Continuous Integration:
- Used framework developed by Automation Team. TTF is used as web engine to interact with browsers. Only execution, no development.
- 10 TeamCity Agents (VM's)
So, in provided case above, how framework users will be count:
AU team + CI = 15 ?
or just AU team = 5?
Thanks,
Mykola

May I suggest you change the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of this documentation: http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/support/documentation/user-guide/getting-started/faq.aspx?
This doesn't seem to be correct (for companies with at least 10 developers):
How much does Telerik Testing Framework cost?
It is a free automation infrastructure and will continue to be that way.
Changing it to indicate the 10 users limit would probably reduce confusion.
Thanks, best regards,
Fabian
Thanks for the suggestion. I have updated the FAQ to clarify this confusion. As thanks for your suggestion, I have assigned Telerik Points to your Telerik.com account.

Thank you for your follow up.
And thank you for the clarification of your current scenario.
Based on the information provided you should consider the AU Team (5 members) as framework users.
Please let me know how I can assist further. You can email me directly on tsveta.stefanova@telerik.com

Could you please help me with one question:
Our customer uses your controls and we (as outsourcing Automation Team - 4 users) are going to use your Free Testing Framework for testing our commercial product. Do we need to pay something for using your framework?
Thanks in advance,
Vlad
With some restrictions, no you do not need to pay anything. This section from the license agreement clarifies the restrictions I am referring to:
2. Support and Updates
2.1 Support.
2.1.1 No dedicated technical support for the Software is included as part of your License if You have nine (9) or less than nine (9) Framework Users. You may, however, elect to purchase a support package as provided in http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/free-testing-framework.aspx . You are, however, allowed to access the support resources provided by Telerik (documentation, Knowledge Base articles, forums) free of charge.
2.1.2 If You have ten (10) or more Framework Users, You are obligated to purchase dedicated technical support for the Software as provided in http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/purchase/faqs/free-testing-framework.aspx.
2.2 Updates. Service packs and major version updates are available in accordance with the terms set forth at http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/purchase/faqs/free-testing-framework.aspx. You may use the resulting upgraded product only in accordance with the terms of this license.

We are using free-testing-framework (TF). We have less than 10 users of TF.
We found some critical issue for us in TF. Thanks for this we can't use it for monitoring memory leaks, performance testing (we have sample, steps and even know where problem is in code). We started to use TF only for this purposes.
Could we somehow contact support or we need to order license for this?
Thanks in advance,
Yurii
Just by posting in this public forum you have already contacted support. We listen to problem/bug reports from all of our users of the Telerik Testing Framework here. We also encourage everyone to create their own feedback items and/or bug reports using our public feedback portal.
The difference a paying customer gets is that for a truly blocking showstopper bugs where all of your test efforts are completely blocked we'll do our best to fix the bug ASAP and provide you with a custom build containing the bug fix. We can't guarantee it for all bugs as it depends on how much code churn is involved for any specific bug. Our free users must wait until we fix the bug and include it in the next public release.
I encourage you to start by creating a new thread with an appropriate title and describe the problem you are running into including as much detail as possible (e.g. HTML app, WPF app, Silverlight app, happens always, happens intermittently, is it browser specific etc.). Once we have identified the issue we'll first look for a work around. If we, the support team, confirm it is a true bug in the product (as opposed to a misunderstand how to correctly use the product) we'll file a bug for our developers to address as they have time to fit it into their development schedule. Here's where our paying customers get priority in scheduling bug fixes.
I hope this answers your questions.
